By choosing this route, you can receive tutoring in the core subjects of English, math, science, and history. At the same time, this program is designed to meet the needs of all students, from those who are new to the US, through high school and college.The coursework in this program includes both classroom and online instruction in all subjects related to English. The English Core is an individualized program that meets the learning needs of students. Other subjects covered include: language arts, English Composition, Grammar, Spelling, Verbal, and Composition.Teachers that work with the Alfred State tutoring program are required to meet particular standards, including the necessity of being licensed in the state where they teach. You should have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to produce written work at a high leve l. Also, you should be a writer and should be a successful communicator.All tutors will also be required to take a professional development seminar, which can help them grow as an educator and learn how to enhance their professional skills. In addition, all teachers will be required to complete a Background Check and then a Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) State Certification. All tutors will also be required to work under an administrative mentor, in order to get the most out of the program.Courses are available for any grade level, beginning with the class one, which provides students with an opportunity to enroll without any prior knowledge of reading or writing. This is referred to as an 'open enrollment' program. Next, there is class two, which covers reading comprehension, which is also an open enrollment program.Core subjects include Geography, English Composition, Grammar, Speech, Verbal, and Composition. They will be introduced to advanced composition skills as well.At the conclusion of the Alfred State Tutoring program, students are expected to pass an assessment known as the AP Calculus test. This is a nationally recognized exam that measures students' ability to apply mathematics to real life situations.
